VimoSwim for Garmin puts your tempo trainer under your Fenix buttons. Pair once, then start, stop and fine-tune the beep in 0.05 s steps — mid-swim, without touching the device or your phone.

Everything you need mid-swim — pairing, playback and tempo — handled from the watch, built for wet fingers and pool walls.
Pair once, then forget
Pick your VimoSwim from a signal-strength-sorted list on first launch and confirm — from then on the watch reconnects to that unit silently, every session.
Start & stop from the wrist
One press of SELECT starts or stops the trainer, confirmed with a vibration — no reaching for the device between sets.
Precise tempo control
UP and DOWN adjust the beep interval in 0.05 s steps, with hold-to-repeat for big jumps. The dial shows seconds and strokes per minute.
Live state sync
The trainer reports its real state back to the watch, so the screen always matches what you hear in the water.
Automatic reconnect
Walked out of range? The app recovers the link with smart backoff and clear on-screen hints for every situation.
You stay in control
Disconnect, reconnect or forget the device from the menu whenever you want — a manual disconnect never rescans behind your back.
No phone needed
The watch talks to your VimoSwim directly over Bluetooth Low Energy. Leave your phone in the locker — and when you exit the app, the trainer keeps playing.

A responsive interface for every Fenix 7 and Fenix 8 screen, with a crisp vector tempo font on AMOLED and a tempo arc around the bezel.

The app boots straight into your last session — Vimo logo, a quick "Starting…", and it's already looking for your trainer.

After the one-time pairing, the watch finds your remembered VimoSwim and connects silently — by the time you're at the wall, it's ready.

Recovery

Clear hints, never a dead end

Searching, reconnecting, timeouts — every state gets a plain-language hint on screen, like "Make sure the trainer is on", so you always know what to do next.

Errors

When something's off, it tells you what to fix

Bluetooth disabled? Pairing failed? The app names the problem and the fix — "Enable Bluetooth in watch settings" — instead of leaving you staring at a spinner.

Five buttons, zero menus to hunt through

Physical buttons only — no touchscreen taps with wet hands. Every action is one press away.

SELECT — Start or stop the trainer, confirmed with a vibration.
UP — Slow the tempo — add 0.05 s to the beep interval.
DOWN — Speed the tempo up — subtract 0.05 s. Hold to auto-repeat.
UP (hold) — Open the menu: disconnect, connect, program, forget device.
BACK — Exit the app — your VimoSwim keeps playing on its own.

First pairing is deliberate — after that, the watch finds your VimoSwim on its own.

Get VimoSwim free from the Garmin Connect IQ Store.

Pick your VimoSwim from the list and confirm — the watch remembers it.
