Vimo Garmin Data Field
Privacy Policy
Your privacy is at the core of how we design and build our products.
This privacy policy describes how Vimo Swim (Vimo Swim Sp. z o.o.), headquartered at Litewska 41/22, 30-014 Kraków, Poland, handles your data in connection with the Vimo Garmin Data Field application.
Vimo Garmin Data Field has not been released yet. This policy describes how the app is being designed to handle your data. We will publish the final version here before the first public release, and this page will always reflect the version of the app you can actually install.
1. Introduction
At Vimo Swim, we believe that privacy is a fundamental right. Vimo Garmin Data Field is designed with a privacy-first approach: it runs inside your Garmin activity recording and writes tempo into the file your watch already creates. This policy explains what data the app handles and how we protect your information.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
Vimo Garmin Data Field stores the following data locally, on your own device:
- Recorded Tempo: The tempo read from your Vimo Swim device, written into the FIT file your watch is already recording.
- Field Settings: Your display preferences for the data field, stored in Connect IQ application storage on the watch.
This data stays on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share it.
2a. Where Your Recorded Data Goes
The data field adds a developer field to the FIT file your watch records. That file belongs to you and follows your normal Garmin workflow: it syncs to Garmin Connect, and onward to Strava, TrainingPeaks or anywhere else you have connected, under those services' own privacy policies.
Vimo Swim is not part of that chain. We do not receive your activity file, your position, your heart rate or your Garmin Connect account details, and the data field has no network permission of its own.
3. Data We May Collect
To improve our products, we may collect anonymous, aggregated diagnostic data such as:
- Crash and error reports surfaced by Garmin Connect IQ (anonymized, no personal identifiers)
This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you personally. You can opt out of analytics in the app settings.
4. Children's Privacy
Vimo Garmin Data Field does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed to be safe for users of all ages, and parental guidance is recommended for younger users.
5. Third-Party Services
Vimo Garmin Data Field may use the following third-party services:
- Garmin Connect IQ Store: app distribution and updates, governed by Garmin's own privacy policy
- Crash reporting, to identify and fix issues (anonymized data only).
We do not use third-party advertising or tracking services.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data. Any data stored on your device is protected by your device's built-in security features, and communication with your Vimo Swim device stays on a direct, local link.
7. Your Rights
Because Vimo Garmin Data Field keeps your data on your own device, you remain in control of it at all times: you can delete it from within the app, or by uninstalling the app. If you believe we hold any personal data about you, you can ask us to access, correct or erase it using the contact details below.
8. Policy Updates
We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected in the application and on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
